You Are a Reader! / You Are a Writer!

I don’t really get this book and usually don’t like stories that use the approach of “you are x” or “you are y” mostly because not all little ones will be all of the characteristics. It seems odd to say “you are” without knowing the reader. However, this is one of the rare books where that voice does work. The author is less saying the reader specifically and more saying if you are a reader you are x or you are y. And most readers or most writers will have certain characteristics. So, the book works. And if an older little one likes to read or wants to write, even better as the book can be used to encourage.

The illustrations are colorful and well drawn. You can tell they are hand drawn, they almost look like colorful sketches, but we think that’s a good style for almost any children’s book and we liked them.
