The Very Impatient Caterpillar

My little one giggled at this book a few times but I didn’t like it. I think the story is supposed to teach patience, but it actually just demonstrates impatience. Little ones learn so much from books and imitation and the entire book the caterpillar is impatient about everything. The language is not polite and is a quick-fire argumentative style. None of the characters have healthy, or even normal, dialogue. I’d rather my little one not speak like the caterpillars nor act like the main character. The parts of the book my little one giggled at were all of the parts that I do not want her imitating.

Additionally, the style of the illustrations reinforces the rapid-fire impatient style of the story and behaviors.

Cautions: The main character is not patient and talks rudely. There are behaviors and patterns of speech I do not want my little one to imitate.
