The Good Egg
With movies, books, and children (just kidding), sequels are almost never as good as the first. This is a follow up story to The Bad Seed. It’s not reliant on The Bad Seed, its simply the same framework, style of writing, and style of illustrations. Both books are good and both had the potential to be a favorite read over and over.
However, both this one and The Bad Seed are books we’d tend to read through once or twice and move on. They are entertaining for both parent and little one. However, unlike with The Bad Seed, as a story, this one doesn’t flow quite as well and while it is a good story, it isn’t quite as clever of a word play. Also, for us, both books have a similar issue, too much detail or too much focus on bad behavior. We got this one, based on the title, with the hope that wouldn’t be there.
Cautions: Again, The Good Egg has similar problems as The Bad Seed. There is a decent portion of the story focused on bad behavior that I’d rather my little one doesn’t hear or get reminded of.
