The Bad Seed

This story almost made it to the favorites list. It’s a well written story that is a clever twist on a common saying. It also has a solid lesson to learn and with the right guidance, could help a little one work through emotions that include hurt and anger. Plus, my little one enjoyed the illustrations and with a little help loved counting the different types of seeds in the pictures.

However, it was written with the bad behavior first, and a decent amount of it, with no real explanation, and I feel like little ones could get lost in the bad behavior before the redeeming ending. Therefore, the story needs outside guidance as it is read and can’t quite stand on its own, so it landed at a good story, but not quite a classic. But the book is definitely one of the best in this category.

Cautions: There is a decent amount of bad behavior in this book that a parent will not want a little one to imitate.
