Noodle’s Knitting

Honestly, I didn’t want to check this one out from the library. My grandma knitted when I was little, and we were always told to stay away when she was knitting. “The needles are sharp!” However, my little one really loved this book; it’s a good book and I’m glad we checked it out. When I asked why my little one loved it, I thought it would be because of the cute little mouse or one of the other little baby animals, but I was told it was because of the feel of the pages. I don’t know if all of the versions of this book have this, but the one we got had something on the pages to feel like yarn wherever the yarn Noodle was knitting was in the illustrations. Especially when they are younger, having that feeling to relate to the story can be stimulating and beneficial to development.

In addition to being yarn heavy, the illustrations with all the various little animals are cute. I would say they are soft, and more realistic than cartoony. The story is a warm story of friends and Noodle has fun throughout it knitting and interacting with other animals. Theres even a little bit of problem solving by Noodle in the story.
