Daddy Honk Honk!
This little gem was a surprise to us. We got it in a box from a library that was cleaning out their book collection to make room for more. I didn’t think we’d like it as I first read it, but a year or two later my little one still will gently bite my nose and giggle while saying “daddy honk honk!” (Which makes more sense after reading the story.)
It’s a sweet story of love, family, parenting and community/friends as an arctic fox takes care of an abandoned egg that hatches into a goose.
Some parents might want this as a warning, as my little one did feel sadness for the baby goose because its parents left it. However, I think that it was a huge positive as it’s good for her to feel emotions at stories! This is one of the main reasons we look for good stories as while we read and talk we get the opportunity to help her through those feelings. Another positive to the story is the opportunity to talk about adoption, as the baby goose is taken care of by an arctic fox.
