Bread and Jam for Frances

I believe this book is part of series of stories regarding Frances (the main character, a badger). In this one, as I think might happen in at least some of the other books, the sole purpose of the entire story is to teach children a lesson. For this story, the lesson is to try new things (or food).

The illustrations are well done; however, both the story and illustrations are just descriptive of the life of Frances, the badger - with the ultimate goal being to teach the kids a lesson. For that goal, the story is too long. A lot of words are used to describe what could be described in a lot less words. And, since it is just descriptive of a few days and moments in Frances’ life, focused on trying new food, it’s boring.

It won’t be a favorite. But, my little one liked it.

Cautions: The only thing we noticed is on one page the dad is smoking a pipe.
