Who Would Like a Christmas Tree?
This story is all about Christmas trees, so it qualifies as a Christmas story, but it’s really about trees and nature. Overall, the story is fine, but I would not seek it out if you are looking for a Christmas story.
There is a repetition to the story, asking “who would like a Christmas tree in (month of the year)?” and then answers trying to use the voice of whatever animal’s behavior at that time of the year is related to the Christmas trees. The repetition is fine, but the answers are wordy, wordier than needed, and often a bit awkward trying to answer as the animal or insect.
Because of the wordiness this is not for younger ones in that up to 5 year old range, as the younger ones will lose interest quickly.
The best part of the book might be the last pages, which are no longer part of the story. It goes through the calendar month by month and describes how a Christmas tree farmer (or a tree farmer) might take care of their trees at different parts of the year. It seems to be the goal of the entire book, but the story isn’t as effective as the last pages are.
Cautions: No concerns about the story and little ones.
